We are excited to announce the debut of Chanticleer’s RAW NaNoWriMo writing competition. And to celebrate our newest contest, we are offering complimentary concise editorial feedback for the first 50 entries!
Now this is something to CROW about!
Yes, a writing competition where the judges actually expect typos, grammatical errors, POV switching, or dialogue that requires work.
Manuscripts do not have to be complete. We understand that these are works in different levels of progress.
CBR’s editors are searching for RAW MANUSCRIPTS that exhibit writing talent, page-turning plots, intriguing characters, and compelling story lines. For more information, click here

This is a great opportunity to have one’s “story” judged based on the things listed above and not some of the writing craft blips & errors most of us make on the first draft. If you think you have a great story, what an opportunity to have some feedback!
Hi, Marion. What does this mean? “You must be able to supply your 2013 NaNoWriMo Winner’s Certificate upon request.” Do writers need to already have a 2013 NaNoWriMo Winner’s Certificate? From where?
This means that you had to have signed up to enter at the NaNoWriMo (Short for National Novel Writing Month) site at the beginning of November, promising to write a brand new first draft manuscript, and periodically post your progress to the site, choose buddies if you wished, and at the end of the allotted time, have written 50,000 words and sent them to the NaNo Site … for their verification. Then you would have received a “winners” certificate.
I think it’s sent in an email when you finish and upload the 50,000 words, right? You are sent the certificate and a huzzah!
Are they looking for complete manuscripts or just your nanowrimo work? For 50,000 words only takes me to the midpoint of my story.
We are not looking for complete manuscripts. 50,000 words is more than enough for our search on the behalf of agents and publishers who have contacted us about discovering raw talent (i.e. the next “Wool” “Water for Elephants” “Cinder”). We will clarify this on CBR’s website. Thank you for your valid question!
Do you want the actual file sent to NaNo on November 30th or what we’ve edited by December 30th?
