"The Inner Workings of a Micro-Press" will be presented by Gary McKinney, founder of Kearney Street Books, an artisan micro-press that operates out of Bellingham. Publishing for ten years now, McKinney has some stories to tell. He’ll discuss his learning curve with plenty of show-and-tell visuals. Topics will include on-demand publishing, interior layout quirks, and the joys of working closely with authors. In addition to publishing books, Kearney Street Books offers editing and graphic services (both interior and exterior) to the northwest community. This event is sponsored by Whatcom Writers and Publishers and Windows on the Bay Events. McKinney has also authored a mystery series that features one of the most original characters to appear in the police-procedural genre, Sheriff Gavin Pruitt. Slipknot and Darkness Bids the Dead Goodbye have been given star reviews by Booklist. This is a dinner event and tickets are $15. per person. Seating is limited and paid reservations are required. Please RSVP by Friday, February 10. Ticket price includes salad, entree and dessert along with coffee and tea. Tax and gratuity are included.
